Poker Player - Ted Forrest

Among the professional poker circuit it has been said that Ted Forrest is undoubtedly one of the greatest players around. Ted has been playing poker for over twenty years, starting out in 1986 - during his early twenties - and played his first tournament in 1992. Born September 24, 1964 in Syracuse, New York, Ted started out, like so many other professional poker players, as a proposition player (someone who is hired by the casino and paid an hourly wage to start games or help keep games going) at The Palace Station Casino in Las Vegas where he eventually took a job as a dealer. In fact it was while he was working as a dealer that he developed his uncanny knack for reading his opponents, studying the players at his table carefully during every hand and becoming a better player himself by paying close attention to how others played. He quit his job to go back to college and was studying at Lemoyne College, however, his father sadly passed away during his final year and Ted never managed to get his degree. One year later he moved to Las Vegas to start his career as a professional poker player with only $100 dollars and has built that up into the small fortune he has today. Today he has made enough money that he is able to financially back some of the best tournament players around, earning him the nickname of 'The Businessman of Poker' because he has backed more players than anyone else.

Ted Forrest is best known for being a high stakes cash game player and is one of the most feared players in the world (as an opponent). In 1992, his first year of poker tournaments, he made 11 final tables out of 21 tournaments. He is the proud owner of five World Series of Poker Bracelets, three of which he won in 1993, two he won later in 2004. Ted was named Best All-Around Player at the 1992 LA Poker Classic and has lived up to this title. Ted is known for his ability to play almost any hand against his competitors - he will play almost any hand because he knows he can outplay his opponents. Ted Forrest currently ranks 46th on the all time money list for the World Series of Poker, and 25th on the all time World Poker Tour money list. He has both won and lost over a million dollars in a single session of poker and is also known for being a bit of a gambler away from the poker tables, willing to take on almost any kind of bet for the right price.

Ted Forrest has become known for playing a style that often goes against conventional wisdom. His knowledge of the game is through, his demeanour at the table is calm and confident and those who watch him will almost never see him rattled by any of his opponents. Ted attributes his success to three factors: innate talent, a desire to improve, and being focused and prepared for the table.

Ted Forrest currently resides in Las Vegas, Nevada. In the last year or two Ted has become a fixture at televised poker tournament final tables.
