Poker Player - Steve Badger

Steve Badger was born and raised in Kaukauna, Wisconsin he currently resides in Sherman Oaks, California. Steve started to play poker with his friends when he was only ten years old, playing his first hand for nothing more than a penny-ante. Steve and his friends spent most of their youth playing cards sometimes poker but often other types of games such as Sheepshead. When Steve moved to Santa Cruz, California in 1984 he began playing poker in casinos often playing Lowball and Hi-Lo Draw which Steve believed not to be the greatest of poker variations but at the time the law did not allow for any other type of poker to be played in the casinos so Steve would have to wait to play a more exciting game. Despite Steve's longing to play a more exciting poker game he managed to contain his feelings and won the first California State Lowball Championship in 1993, eventually the Hold'em style poker games were legalised in California giving Steve something to get his teeth into instead of playing nothing more than ring games all across Northern California. When Steve relocated to Los Angeles he began to put more focus and energy into playing in the ever-growing poker tournament scene.

While playing in tournament events Steve won titles from the titles from the 1995, 1997 and 1999 Bicycle Casino's Legends of Poker Omaha championships. Steve's fortune continued into 1999 when he won two major Omaha tournaments the first was at the Commerce Casino when he competed in the Los Angeles Poker Classic, he then went on to come first place in the Hollywood Park's National Championship of Poker. Steve also has one World Series of Poker bracelet to his name which he won at the 1999 $2500 Omaha Eight of Better, Las Vegas Horseshoe taking home $186,000. These are not Steve's only titles he has also won the Gold Coast Open and the Winning of the Green in both 2002 and 2003.

In 2000 Steve set-up and established his own poker website called WinningPoker.com which includes articles on various poker strategy's including Omaha, Texas Hold'em and Seven Card Stud, other poker games are also included, as well as his article Winner's Guide to On-Line Poker. Steve's guide was the first on-line poker strategy guide specifically for the Internet when it was published in 2000.

Now days you might find Steve playing Omaha tournaments in the Los Angeles area, however Steve does sometimes venture out into Las Vegas to compete in the higher buy-in events. Steve does not play as much poker as he used to, instead he spends as much time as he can focus on maintaining his website which are devoted mostly to the strategy of the game.
