Jim Miller - Poker Player Profile - Poker Tournaments

Poker Player - Jim Miller

Jim Miller is a well known and highly respected member of the poker community. Jim Miller both works and plays the poker industry, he is a talented professional poker player in his own right and has had considerably success in the events he has participated in but he also does a lot of work promoting the industry behind the scenes. Jim Miller is a former shift manager and director at Hustler casino, he was also a co-director at the World Series of Poker and is in high demand as a tournament director at many other casinos.

Jim Miller began his poker career in 1993 in Southern California. He started out working as a poker dealer and quickly worked his way up to shift manager. Today Jim is a member of the board of directors for the International Poker Association, a partner and spokesperson for Major League Poker, a consultant for Poker, Etc and is included in the collector's edition of Poker's Most Wanted.

When he's not rushing around behind the scenes, Jim Miller is actually a very talented poker player with numerous final table appearances, in a variety of games, under his belt including a 6th place finish in the no limit hold em event at the 2003 Hustler Challenge Cup and a 2nd place finish in the $2,500 buy in at the World Series of Poker. He also placed 32nd in the main event at the WSOP.

Despite his success, Jim Miller remains somewhat sensible when it comes to playing poker full time. Unlike many other professional poker players, Jim did not quit his full time job to play poker. Working in the industry for as long as he has, Jim knows how volatile the poker world can be. He has a very high ratio of tournaments cashed to tournaments played yet he continues to work and keep a steady income coming in. To Jim, his tournament wins are like bonuses to his main salary. Jim Miller doesn't travel the tournament circuit full time because he feels a person needs to work in order to cover the high costs of tournament fees - hence it would seem that Jim Miller certainly has the one skill that many tournament players lack, great money management skills! And so Jim Miller continues to work his magic behind the scenes as well as at the poker table. He has run a number of major poker tournaments and many people believe the tournaments he runs are among the best in the business. Being a professional poker player (albeit part time as it would seem) Jim Miller knows what tournament players want. He knows what works in tournaments and what doesn't and structures his events accordingly.

Jim Miller is highly regarded as one of the industry's best tournament directors and one of the top professional poker players. Jim currently resides in Las Vegas but travels frequently to Los Angeles for work.
