Poker Player - Chris Ferguson

Chris Ferguson born on 11th of April in 1963, in Los Angeles, California he resides in Pacific Palisades, California. Chris's parents taught him how to play poker when he was very young and he has been playing ever since. As early as the 4th grade Chris can remember playing in card games, in one particular game he thought that he had the upper hand but at the last minute it went sour and from that moment on he was determined that he would never allow himself to go broke again. His love of card playing continued into his high school career when he would play cards with his friends were he would make nothing more than $2 an hour in a nickel dime game in order to save enough money for a trip to Las Vegas with his friends, while there Chris only experienced two losses in a total of twenty two visits.

In 1981 Chris enrolled at UCLA and found that many different things took up his time and interests, so up until 1989 poker took a sideline that was until he stumbled upon the IRC Poker Network. This network was made up of hundreds of players from around the world, there was never any face to face contact and there was also no money involved it was simply about ego. Chris played the IRC Network right up until the mid nineties and when he left he found that his name had been in either first or second place on the IRC board consistently for a few years and due to this Chris had achieved his second goal of being at the top of the tournament leader board. In 1994 Chris decided he would concentrate all his knowledge of poker on tournament playing. Chris decided that it was best that he didn't go over his bankroll so he didn't enter into a World Series of Poker event instead he started off playing in small tournaments in and around Los Angeles. In 1996 Chris won a Satellite event and has entered every year since, in the next three years Chris would find himself with plenty of money finishes as well as sitting at some final tables but he never managed to finish any higher than 4th place.

In 1999 at age 36 and after spending more than half his life studying Chris had more than enough degree status to earn good money as well as a PHD in computer science, it was time for him to leave. Chris had achieved plenty in the poker world but not like his 2000 World Series of Poker win in the Championship Event when he defeated poker veteran TJ Cloutier winning his first WSOP bracelet and a cool $1.5 million and the world championship title. In the same year Chris went on to win his second WSOP bracelet at the Seven-Card Stud Event, winning $151,000. Chris's next bracelet was won in 2001 at the WSOP Omaha Hi/Lo Split were he also won $164,735. In 2003 he won another two WSOP bracelets, one at the WSOP Omaha Hi/Lo winning $123,680 and then at the WSOP $2000 Half Stud Half Hold'em were he won $66,220. In 2005 Chris again won two main events the first at the WSOP Circuit Rincon Main Event with prize money of $655,220 and then at the Harrah's WSOP Circuit Event, World Series of Poker Champions Main Event in which he won $362,088.

Chris has achieved so much during his poker career far to many to list and this has been through seer determination, he no longer plays the tournament scene as much as he used to he instead opts to play in the larger tournament games. Chris has adopted the nickname Chris 'Jesus' Ferguson and if you ever saw him you would know why.
