Poker Player - Barney "The Humour" Boatman

Barney Boatman was born in Summerstown, England, and is the brother of poker player and actor, Ross Boatman. In light of this, he confesses to having the ambition of being "the second best player" in his family! Barney has a playing style that has been described as "swashbuckling", "unforgettable" and "aggressive" with an at-the-table persona that is nothing short of unreadable. This combination of qualities makes him a very difficult opponent to play, but it is his personality that has given him the nickname "The Humour."

Barney has a long history of playing poker, admitting in typical style that he started playing "as soon as the teacher's back was turned" and today is rated as one of the best, if not the best Stud Poker player in Europe. Poker became his passion the moment he won his very first tournament - a Seven Card Stud tournament in London, which was not only his very first win, but also the first tournament that he had ever entered. He is extremely well known in Europe and well respected around the globe in professional poker circles. He is well known not only for his playing, but also for his informative commentaries during poker tournaments. His favourite poker variation is No Limit Texas Hold'em, but he is also an accomplished player in Omaha and Seven Card Stud.

So far Barney has documented tournament winnings of $882,894. He has 4 first place finishes, and finished in three consecutive finals of the 2002 World Series of Poker including a second place finish in the Pot Limit Hold'em event. He has had 10 money finishes in the World Series of Poker events and was the top British player to take part in the 2000 and 2001 $10,000 main events. He has also made the final table three years running in the European No Limit Hold'em event, in London. Most tellingly, Barney Boatman was given the 2002 World Series of Poker Title for Most Notable Performance.

Barney Boatman, and his brother Ross have made poker history by taking first and second place at the final table in the 4 Queens Classic event at the World Series of Poker, becoming the only brothers to ever do so.

Outside of playing poker however, Barney is famous for being one of the world famous Hendon Mob, along with his brother Ross Boatman, Ram Vaswani and Joe Beevers. The Hendon Mob compile one of the biggest poker databases on the internet, with poker statistics and information on practically every professional poker player in the world.

Being the oldest member of the Hendon Mob, Barney is sometimes referred to as "the Old Man" but his hobbies include snowboarding, biking, scuba diving and sky diving! His profile is far more well known in Europe, but with his exuberant personality and evident skill, it is almost certain that there will be more to come from Barney Boatman in poker events the world over!
